YouTube Shorts View Count Update And What It Means For Our Video Tools
Quote from TunePocket Support on June 4, 2025, 2:12 pmHi everyone,
We want to let you know about an important update from YouTube that may impact the way some of our analytics and keyword tools report Shorts data.
YouTube Shorts View Counting Is Changing (Effective June 30, 2025)
Until now, YouTube only counted a Shorts view if the video was watched for at least 4 seconds.
Starting June 30, 2025 a view will be counted every time a Short starts to play or replay, regardless of how long it's watched.
How This Affects Our Tools:
YouTube CPM Calculator
View counts for Shorts may appear higher, but earnings and CPM calculations remain unaffected. Revenue estimates are still accurate.YouTube Channel Analyzer & Video Analyzer
If you're analyzing Shorts, expect a rise in reported views. These changes may reflect more plays, not necessarily deeper engagement.Trending Hashtags & Shorts Tags Tools
With the updated view logic, some hashtags may trend more quickly. This tool will still reflect the most current data from YouTube, but keep in mind that spikes may not always correlate with sustained viewer interest.Channel ID Lookup / Keyword Copy Tools
Shorts view numbers may be inflated compared to pre-June 2025 results due to this new calculation method.YouTube Monetization:
There is no impact on monetization. Your actual YouTube earnings, RPM, and Shorts revenue share remain the same. This is strictly a front-end view counter adjustment.
Let us know if you have questions or want help interpreting the updated metrics!
