nursery rhymes karaoke

One of our favorite types of nursery rhymes videos is karaoke videos!

Karaoke videos are typically harder to monetize, since they require a quality soundtrack and most good recordings of nursery rhymes will be copyrighted.

The good news is that you typically don’t need worry about copyright for the melody (the composition), as many nursery rhymes are in public domain.

Related: Read this before using public domain music in your videos.

IMPORTANT: While the songs are in public domain, the various recordings / performances of these songs may still be copyrighted.

Pay attention to this when searching for backing tracks for your karaoke videos.

The most reliable option is to get a formal music license that allows you to use specific music recordings for commercial purpose (including YouTube monetization).

We strongly recommend using “underscore” (or backing track) types of tracks for karaoke videos.

Underscore typically means that the vocals and the lead melody were removed to make the track less busy and, hence, easier to sing.

How to make money with nursery rhymes videos on YouTube?

There are many ways you can make money with good YouTube videos:

1. Monetize your videos with YouTube’s Partner Program

How monetization works?

You make videos, people watch your videos (hopefully repeatedly), and you get paid through the ads that appear before or after the videos.

Learn more how YouTube monetization works.

IMPORTANT

YouTube has very detailed restrictions on monetizing content created for kids.

Here is a little snippet from the policy:

“Our aim is to provide kids and families with a safe and enriching experience on YouTube, while finding new ways to reward creators contributing high-quality content to the platform.

If your channel has “made for kids” content, we’ll use YouTube’s quality principles for kids and family content to determine the monetization status of that content.

If a channel is found to have a strong focus on low-quality “made for kids” content, it may be suspended from the YouTube Partner Program. If an individual video is found to violate these quality principles, it may see limited or no ads.

When checking to see if your “made for kids” content is of low or high quality, nuances and context are important. Visit our best practices for kids and family content page for guides and examples.”

2. Earn money through TunePocket affiliate program

If you’re not a YouTube partner yet (or if your application was turned down :((), there is still a way you can earn on YouTube. You just need to target a different audience.

Instead of making the videos for people who come to YouTube to sing karaoke, you target the creators who make videos.

Join TunePocket affiliate program. It’s super fast to join, all you need is to fill a quick form and you’re in.

Then, make the same videos but add a simple message:

“If you want to use this backing music in your nursery rhymes videos, sign up for TunePocket and get unlimited access to great children music and carols”.

Use your affiliate link to direct YouTubers to TunePocket. If they sign up for any of our royalty free music plans, you will be paid a referral commission.

PRO TIP: You can use this approach as the stepping stone to get 1,000 subs and 4,000 watch hours for the Partner program.

Can I use any music?

There is plenty of free music around the Web.

However, if you want to monetize, it’s important to protect your channel against copyright claims that you won’t be able to resolve.

If you get a claim, you can’t monetize.

As a rule of thumb, if you want to monetize your video, it is recommended to properly license any music you use.
