So I took a scientific approach!
I’ve analyzed what people search online and combined it with what our customers search for in our royalty free music catalog.
I looked at thousands of music searches that involved Instagram (or “ig”) and came up with 5 main categories:

As I’ve already mentioned, this may be not the best approach, as what some other person considers “the best” may or may not work for you.

That includes keywords like “aesthetic music” or “chill music”.
The moods that tend to appear most often include: Cool, Calm, Chill, Sad, Funny, Cute, Relaxing, and Slow.
Overall, these searches aiming for music that complements specific atmospheres or emotional tones.
For example, “aesthetic music” might include music tracks that enhance the visual style of a story, while “calm music”, “peaceful music”, or “chill music” could be used to create a relaxed vibe.

9% of searches focus on music for a specific activity like “workout music”, “gym music”, “party music”, “bike ride music”, “sunrise music”, and similar.
5. Genre specific music
Last but not least, 3% of the searches focus on a specific genre of music, rather than a mood or a theme.
This includes queries like “classical music for Instagram stories”, “french music”, “lofi music”, and “rap music”.
